Aftercare & support

Aftercare is agreed before you travel, not after.

Complications are uncommon but possible with any dental treatment, at home or abroad. What matters is knowing in advance who does what if you need help.

If symptoms are severe, seek urgent care locally first.

  • Swelling that is spreading, or affects your eye or neck
  • Difficulty swallowing or breathing
  • A high temperature or feeling generally unwell
  • Bleeding that does not stop with pressure

In the UK call NHS 111, or 999 in an emergency. In Ireland contact your GP or out-of-hours service, or call 112 or 999 in an emergency. Then let the treating clinic and your coordinator know.

Before you go

Five things to have in writing.

Follow-up schedule
Which reviews happen in Romania, which can be remote, and when.
Who to contact
A named contact at the clinic, how to reach them and expected response times.
Guarantee terms
What is covered, for how long, on what conditions, and who pays return travel for corrections.
Records you take home
Treatment notes, imaging, and details of implants and materials used.
Home dentist
What your local dentist will need to continue routine care.

Once you are home

Your coordinator remains your first point of contact. If something does not feel right, message them at any time: they will help you reach the treating clinic quickly and keep a record of each step. Coordinators are not clinicians and cannot assess symptoms.

Your dentist at home

We encourage you to tell your local dentist about your plans before you travel. With your permission we can share your treatment records with them. Implants, crowns, bridges and veneers all need daily cleaning and regular professional check-ups.

If you are unhappy with your treatment

Raise it with the clinic first, in writing. If you are not satisfied with the response, tell us: we will help you set out the issue and keep a record. Complaints about clinical care are ultimately a matter between you and the clinic, and Romanian professional and consumer bodies. Our complaints procedure explains how we handle concerns about our own service.
